Happy 5th Birthday ... Megan Jo!

Happy 5th birthday to my baby girl! We had Megan's party at our house on the 12th of December. It was a cold , snowy and stormy day, but the party turned out to be a lot of fun and Megan had a great time!
Thanks to everyone for coming and making it a great time. And, thanks to Kacy for the idea for the birthday cake!

Thanksgiving Etc...

This past Thanksgiving has been a little crazy in our family. My husband, Dan, broke his elbow in 6 places and had to have surgery this past week. A plate and 7 screws were the answer to that. He now has limited use of his arm for a few weeks and will most likely need to go thru some therapy afterwards to get the use of his arm back 100%.

My nephew, Merrick, also had heart surgery. He is doing well and is a brave little trooper.

I also have a niece who has been battling some of her own demons for the the past year or so, and who has been "estranged" from our family for that time. She is making progress towards closing that gap and seems to be coming back to us.

But, with all that being said, I am still so blessed and thankful for all our wonderful friends and family and for all that we are blessed to have in this life. I have been off work this week for the Holiday and also to help out my husband. It has been a nice week to be home and to be with the family.

I have also been trying to get some more scrapping done since I haven't been able to devote as much time to it is as I'd like...

My attempt at photography

I took the girls to the park today to get some pictures. I have been wanting to get some photos of them with the gorgeous fall colors. While, I am hardly a professional photographer and don't know the first thing about lighting, exposure or any of that other photo jargon... Here are the pix I got. With a little messing around on Abode Photoshop (again no pro), but we had fun and I think some of these turned out cute...

This is my favorite!

Pumpkins 2009

Here are some pictures I took of the girls and us carving pumpkins this year. Halloween is truly one of my favorite holidays. Such good memories.
One of them is as kids, we would read poems/stories from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. One of the favorites we had was "Don't You Ever Laugh As A Hearse Goes By". I used to know this one by heart because we'd read it so much. Here is a copy of the poem I found... Oh the memories. I think when my girls get a little older, I will be buying this book for them to read from.
This is for you Kassie Jo...

Don’t You Ever Laugh As A Hearse Goes By,
For You May Be The Next To Die.
They Wrap You Up In A Big White Sheet,
From Your Head Down To Your Feet.
They Put You In A Big Black Box,
Cover You Up With Dirt And Rocks.
All Goes Well For About A Week,
Then Your Coffin Begins To Leak.
The Worms Crawl In The Worms Crawl Out,
The Worms Play Pinochle On Your Snout.
They Eat Your Eyes They Eat Your Nose,
hey Eat The Jelly Between Your Toes.
A Big Green Worm With Rolling Eyes,
Crawls In Your Stomach And Out Your Eyes.
Your Stomach Turns A Slimy Green,
And Pus Pours Out Like Whipping Cream.
You Spread It On A Slice Of Bread,
And That’s What You Eat When Your Dead.

Happy 2nd Birthday Kambrin Jo!

My cousin, Kassie's, little cutie pie, Kambrin Jo, turned 2 this past week. She is a Leo after my own heart. She was born August 5th. My birthday is the 6th. Anyhow, here are some pix of her birthday party at Grandma Kathy's house. It was supposed to be a swimming party, but the day's weather didn't hold out. So, instead the kids got to play musical chairs. It was a fun filled day spent with my family that I don't get to see too often.
